Jasmine Chess brings a style of her own to the turntables, one that’s rooted in music history. The DJ, and vintage connoisseur’s passion for performing is by no means a coincidence. Her deep roots in the entertainment industry, trace back to her gradfather, Leonard Chess, who founded Chess Records in 1950. In the 1970’s the torch was passed on to her father, who took the reigns and founded The Rolling Stones record label spawning a notably psychedelic era in music. Three generations later, Jasmine continues to carry on the family legacy, spinning a mix of old timey blues tunes, the genre her grandfather created, and top 100.

Hailing from Phoenicia, New York, Jasmine has always had an attraction to the stage. Ms. Chess has been performing and dancing for over 20 years having studied and performed ballet with the Catskill Ballet Theater throughout her youth and with the prestigious Hartt Conservatory in college. She has also worked in a number of supporting roles on the stage and in short films. Now pursuing her love for music, she is quickly becoming one of fashion’s new faces, being called upon to deejay events for Emporio Armani, Coach, DKNY, La Perla, Joe Fresh, Manhattan Magazine, Samsung and many others.

When not behind the turntables or camera lens, Ms. Chess runs her own high-end vintage e-commerce site, Vetta Vintage. A fully shoppable collection of history’s most adored fashion styles, Vetta pieces draw from fashion icons of the past, bringing the looks that defined generations back to life with an all but modern twist. The collections are hand-curated by Ms. Chess and also available on 1stdibs.
